Major Sponsors
CUA is Australia’s largest and oldest credit union, contributing to the financial wellbeing of around 550,000 Australians through our banking, health and general insurance offers. As a mutual, we were created by members for members and we care for them through the changes and challenges in their lives.
Our story began back in 1946 when we saw an opportunity to give Australians a fairer deal. We challenged the banking status quo at the time by providing responsible and affordable lending. Through a series of mergers with like-minded credit unions and community groups, we created the powerful force that is CUA today. This growth and success lets us reinvest in our business, deepen our relationships with our members, champion great causes, and build stronger communities. We’ve changed a lot over the years - and today we offer much more than just lending - but we’re still driven by a passionate and genuine desire to enrich our members’ lives. CUA is passionate about investing in the innovative minds of the future and is a proud sponsor of the Australian Undergraduate Case Competition for 2019. Suitable and appropriate supported housing is one of the greatest areas of unmet need for people with disabilities in Australia. Currently, there are 12,000 young people being left behind in inappropriate housing simply because there is nowhere else for them to go. There is a residential and care crisis throughout Australia for young people with high care needs. Young Australians are being left behind in aged care, hospital rooms, rehabilitation centres – inappropriate accommodation that is not suitable for their age. The crux of this crisis is the lack of opportunity for each person living with disability to choose their own pathway due to limited options. Youngcare is boldly tackling this national issue by acting as the conduit for industry, government and the community to work together to bring much-needed change to the disability housing sector. |
